For the Fiji water ad there really is no setting the ad is just blank with words. I also don't really think there is a subject to the ad, i believe the ad is aimed at everyone. The story behind the ad is just that for some reason Fiji thinks thats their water is better then other water, supposedly Fiji water is straight from natural springs in Fiji and never touched by human hands, I don't believe that for a second. The ad is actually from this month, i found it while looking up articles online for another class and i happen to look at the ads on the side of the page and i saw the Fiji water and though it was perfect for this project. The relationship between the ad and the viewer is that the ad is suppose to portray this image of better water, personally i have tried many many different types of water and they all pretty much taste the same i think. So the relationship is one that is suppose to make you believe that you cant drink water unless its Fiji water because it so clean and pure that it is better then just any other normal bottled water. I dont think there is any certain person that is suppose to see this but i know that Fiji water is pretty expensive so i think they would be more inclined to advertise towards wealthier people. I dont see any markers of race, gender, religion or sexuality, but there may be a marker of age and class because you dont usually see little kids running around with Fiji water on the playground, just like you usually dont see a poor person coming out of the store with a case of Fiji water, this is because it is EXPENSIVE water, far to overpriced for me at least, because it's WATER, you can get it for free by turning the faucet on. The text in the ad is bond, i think this is trying to make the image of the actual bottle stand out and make it bond too because their are words on both sides of the bottle which will bring you focus to the middle on the bottle. Lastly the product is actually shown in the ad so its not only promoting a lifestyle but also the product itself.
The setting of the Big Mac ad just looks like its on a table, but the lighting is dark which makes the Big Mac really pop out. There are no subjects in the ad just the Big Mac. This is an advertisement from when the Big Mac first came out and the advertisement is saying that the Big Mac is not just any ordinary hamburger it is a whole meal, which it really is if you look at the calories in it. I couldn't find an exact date for when the ad came out but i know if i had to guess i would say it was probably in the mid to late 70's. I found this ad once again just searching on the internet and this was in an article that was actually talking about how bad Mcdonalds food is for you and while i was scrolling through it i saw this ad. The relationship between the ad and the viewer is kind of to convince the viewer. Seeing this big juicy burger is suppose to make you hungry and want to drive right to McDonalds and pick up a Big Mac, and it will be your whole "meal" because it's suppose to be so filling. This ad is meant for everyone not any one group of people. McDonalds these days are pretty accessible to everyone so the more people this ad reaches the more business McDonalds will get. I dont believe there are any really boundaries or markers to how far or who this ad reaches, like i said the more people it reaches the more business and its not like McDonalds is going to turn away business. The text in the ad is kind of simple, i guess this could be portraying the simplicity of the burger itself but i think the ad is just that old that text just looks old. Last i think this is kind of portraying a fast paced lifestyle, because i think everyone would pick a home grilled burger over a Big Mac but the people these days are not always able to choose that option and they need something that they can pick up quickly and be a "meal" for them.
I responded to both of these ads the same, I saw them and immediately thought to myself, there is no way i would buy that. For the Fiji water one i looked at it and i knew beforehand that the water is really expensive and i look at all water basically the same so i looked at it and just said nope not for me. With the Big Mac ad, i really never go to McDonalds as it is, but that burger, though it looks pretty good, i know how unhealthy it is for me, and i think that todays youth is becoming overweight because of fast food companies, so i know not to pay attention to their ads because it will just hurt me in the end.
